About Us

When a group of local people got together and forget their own personal agenda - replacing them with a simple love of their community, Chippenham had all the ingrediencies needed to make something wonderful happen.

And that is what what has make Chippenham Community Hub so special.....

Our
Story

While the country was still suffering the effects of Covid and lockdown, it became apparent that Chippenham was blessed with a most wonderful active community who were busy doing what communities do when called upon in times of need - they worked for the good of those who live and work in this wonderful market town in Wiltshire.

Around that time a conversation took place with the company who owned the shopping centre in the heart of the town, Borough Parade.  This area, like so many others, had empty units and discussions began about the possibility of allocating a space for a community Hub to coordinate the wonderful work going on within the community which they soon granted on a two year rent and service charge free lease.

Little did we know then the extent that the movement would grow to respond to some unimagined demands that were soon to appear. These ranged from the lasting (and sometimes unexpected) effects of those months of lockdown, to the war in Ukraine, a national recession, and a fuel crisis which threatened to challenge even the most hardy of our local residents.

Alongside this there has been the need to establish community groups which have been able to get together the diverse range of those who are dealing with all aspects of Health and Wellbeing and Town centre development and regeneration.

And it hasn't ended there with challenges  coming through the doors each week -  with all welcomed and embraced for the love and good of our town.

Among all the challenges that the years have thrown up the Hub has moved from its original premises into a superb new building which is in itself now helping to develop the Hub as an integral organisation within both the formal and community structure.

No matter what the changes or challenges, we always remember - If its good for Chippenham. legal, and possible, we will attempt to ensure that whenever a problem comes through the door, on the way out it will be on the way to a solution...x
